Dear Jenny, You are certainly doing a great job of keeping me off balance... the implication that Misty was essentially content with her velvet prison with the PG before she was rescued by Tom and company takes me by surprise, as a thought she was aware that she was being played by Cathy at the time. And the terms of Luke's reenlistment were not clear to me as being Misty's 'freedom'...that is until the end notes gave away that Logan and Misty would be going away to train. It does strike me as odd that Morgan would give up Misty in exchange instead of keeping both? Is Luke that much more valuable than Misty, or does Morgan think that Cathy can control Misty now whether she is physically there or not? Forgive me for continuing to throw out these speculative questions, I can't help myself! Hope all is well with you!
Hi Frank! Always a pleasure to see your name on that little bell. 😁 Well, I'm a little worried about this comment actually. It makes me think I might have missed a beat or two along the way, and certainly in this post if so much about it was unclear, or came across as strange. So I'll be doing revising in future.
Just to let you in on a little bit of my thought processes here--Morgan has always valued Luke highly. Luke was a PG dog in his youth. Now I know you don't know him that well, and I probably should update his profile, but I'm so behind in all the background stuff, and it's not like many people pay attention to it, but anyway... Luke worked for the PG until he adopted Logan and Tom when they were eightish and their dad went MIA. (Pointedly not KIA, mind you but that's a story for another day.) So Luke quit the PG to play daddy to the boys, focusing on his medical practice, redwood plantation, and research. When they found Misty he started consulting as a way of winning favors. Then the whole Tom debacle had him free from that. But Morgan was always looking for a way to get him back. Luke's value lies in his incredible pretty much unparalleled telepathic talent. Misty is a wild card, that he was never able to fully control never mind contain as proven with the rescue thing when she just flew out without much effort, but if left alone, she's not much of a threat. With strict instructions to lie low, with Logan who apparently can control her, and a hostage as surety, Morgan will be rid of Misty and have Luke's talents which you've only seen little bits and pieces of, at his fingertips. So it's a bit of a two or three birds with one stone thing. Anyway, that's enough peeking for you. Don't ever apologize, I LOVE your speculative questions, they show me all the different angles to look at and often get my imagination going too. And I likewise hope all is well with you. It is with me, just busy busy. I forget how much time Christmas takes away from my writing. I'm going to be hard pressed to get this story finished by the end of the year. We've only a handful of posts to go.
Thank you Jenny for such a fulsome reply, knowing how busy you certainly must be! You went beyond the call to fill in the gaps in my viewpoint, which makes a lot fall into place now... but Jenny being Jenny, I will not be surprised if you are holding a few cards close as the finale approaches... indeed I hope so!
Good Golly, Miss Molly. I feel like I'm rock climbing, and I'm at a ledge, holding on by three fingers on each hand! Nicely done, Jenny. Thank you for the heart palpitations to hold me over until the next episode.
Sorry Dave! I know, this was a nasty one, but I ran out of time with the whole power issue thing, and I decided to post on my posting day rather than craft a more satisfying ending. You'll have to hang on a little while longer my friend. We're in the home stretch now.
