So I see it's the moment when Luke and Logan are expecting a commitment from Logan after they have done the leg work finding out where Ellie is exactly... I did have to read through the beginning of the scene again to make sure where I was on the timeline... Logan then has been in avoidance for several months, and yet when he is presented with these details he goes thru a fairly rapid self awareness analysis to reach a decision. A considerable leap in maturity, which is slightly unexpected but good to see. It' is a good bridge toward a healing and tightening of the family bonds I hope.
Surely you mean Luke and Tom, right? And yup, Logan has grown up. And this is designed to bring Logan and Tom closer together. Sorry again for disorienting you. I'll be working on smoothing out those transitions eventually, but for now I want to get things moving.
You'll also have noticed that Luke's go to isn't instantly Influence anymore. He lets Logan process it himself, even when it looks like he's going to have a literal meltdown, energy and all.
The importance of this whole scene is first of all Logan's reaction to the news, which isn't all happy and excited like you'd expect. He's ambivalent, afraid of getting his hopes up because then he would have something to be disappointed about again, and angry about the situation in its entirety. Secondly we get to see that he wants to act. All this time, throughout the entire search for Elle, he's felt like an observer, unable to have any concrete effect on the outcome and he isn't made for that. He is a man of action, and the opportunity to act on this thing is what settled his turmoil.
Next week puts us in gear for picking up the pace again, I hope. It's been a little slow lately.
Luke, Logan... my brain has been alliterated! I don't think of the recent scenes as being slow, more explanatory and exploratory while expanding key characters personalities and motivations. And I think I benefited by some glimpses behind the curtain within comments that were exchanged for these scenes. Your fulsome responses to my stumbling comments have been quite illuminating! Another great Friday, 😉!
I'm so glad I could illuminate your Friday, 🧡! I wish I was a better storyteller though so that these behind the curtain glimpses could be less behind the curtain. You're very kind regarding the exploratory aspect here. Maybe it's less interesting for me as their creator, than it typically would be for a reader, but I do feel that these past few scenes have been necessary to bring the story to where I want it to go, and it is going, I assure you. More good things coming, and bad ones, and excitement, and delicious horror... 😈
Oh my God can I relate to this line: "I spent so long being a prisoner of false hope."
Good stuff in here today Jenny... You are improving your Mad Skills at toying with my emotions hahaha
Thanks Dave. 😉🤩
